Joseph Presutto (LLB, BSc, GDLP) is a partner leading our Family Law Department. He is a member of both the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
Joseph undertook his university studies at La Trobe University, completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science (majoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry). Following his studies, Joseph completed a graduate diploma in Legal Practice at the Leo Cussen Institute.
Joseph practices in all areas of family law and has particular knowledge and experience in relation to the following areas:

- Children’s care arrangements
- Parenting disputes
- Family Violence Intervention Orders
- Same-sex parenting and property disputes
- Financial Agreements, including pre-nuptial agreements
- Spousal Maintenance
- Child Support

Joseph prides himself on being sensitive of the individual needs of his clients. He takes a pragmatic approach to any matter, which involves exploring any resolutions to the dispute through mediation and/or negotiation with the client to avoid court litigation and achieve a timely, and cost effective, outcome
However, despite all efforts to resolve a matter, sometimes court litigation is required for a client to enforce their rights. The prospect of litigation can be daunting for any client. Joseph understands this and his experience in family court litigation allows him to provide the advice and assistance needed by the client when dealing with a matter proceeding through the Courts and he works hard to assist his clients achieve the best result they possibly can from any litigation by giving practical advice and looking at realistic outcomes for the client.
